Our wood fences are priced per linear foot, all-in: Shadowbox from $65/ft (Economy), Privacy and Standard Shadowbox $75/ft, Board-on-Board $80/ft, Horizontal $80 to $110/ft, and Premium lattice-top fences $95/ft. Yes, gates are priced per gate and built to match the fence. Wood walk gates run $450 to $700 and double drive gates $1,000 to $1,500 depending on the package. Chain link walk gates are $350 to $400 and double gates $700 to $800.

$5 per linear foot with a $200 minimum, including haul-away. Posts set in heavy concrete can take extra work, which we confirm on site.

It depends on how much needs replacing. A single post is a small job; a storm-damaged run of several sections is more. We give free, itemized repair quotes on site.

It depends on size, height, decking material and railing. We give a detailed, free quote after seeing your yard.

We dig post holes 4 ft deep and set posts in concrete. That gets them below the frost line so winter freeze-thaw doesn’t push them out of the ground.

A 6x6 post has more than twice the wood of a 4x4 and resists twisting and leaning much better, especially at gates and corners. We use 6x6 posts on every wood fence, including Economy, at no extra charge.

Cedar resists rot naturally and weathers to silver-grey, but costs more. Pressure-treated wood costs less and takes stain well. We currently build in pressure-treated wood.

In our area, usually frost heave: posts that aren’t deep enough get pushed up by freeze-thaw cycles. Rot at the base from constant ground moisture is the other common cause.

Yes. Wood fences are usually stepped down a slope section by section. Any extra cost for stepped sections or longer posts is confirmed at the site visit.

Most backyard fences take one to a few days on site, depending on length, gates and access. You get a timeline with your quote.

Yes, on every job. We request locates through Ontario One Call before any post hole is dug.

We match board size and style. New wood won’t match weathered wood in colour right away, but it greys in over time.

Walk gates are usually about 4 ft wide. For equipment, a double drive gate of 10 to 12 ft is the safe choice. Tell us what needs to fit through.

Up to 2.13 m (7 ft) in any yard of a residential lot under the City’s Fence By-law, and no more than 0.9 m (3 ft) inside corner and driveway sight triangles. See London’s rules.

Fence height and placement are set by the City’s zoning by-law, with a 1 m limit near the intersection on corner lots, and pool fences have their own by-law. See the St. Thomas rules. We confirm what applies to your lot before building.

In London, the Line Fences Act doesn’t apply; the Fence By-law says neighbours share a boundary fence in a “just proportion.” In many other Ontario municipalities the Line Fences Act sets out a process if neighbours can’t agree. Either way, talk to your neighbour before building.

You’re responsible for knowing where your line is, and a survey is the only reliable way to know. If there’s any doubt, we recommend building slightly inside your line.

Yes. Pool enclosures have stricter rules, including self-closing and self-latching gates, and they vary by municipality. Tell us it’s a pool fence and we’ll build to your town’s requirements.

Often. Decks attached to the house, or more than about 24 in (600 mm) off the ground, usually need a building permit. We confirm with your municipality before we build.

Pressure-treated wood costs less up front and can be stained any colour, but needs re-staining every few years. Composite costs more but needs very little upkeep.

Most decks in our climate need it every 2 to 4 years. If water stops beading and the wood looks grey or dry, it’s time.

If boards flex or feel soft, or railings are loose, it needs repair first. If it’s only faded but solid, staining may be enough.

A workmanship warranty on every build: 1 year on Economy, 3 years on Standard and board-on-board, 5 years on Premium. It doesn’t cover severe weather (high winds, storms, tornadoes, fallen trees), impact, animals, changes by others, or natural wood movement.
