Built on site, board by board
A wood fence is only as good as what's underground. Every Hole In One fence starts with a layout, a locate request through Ontario One Call, and 6x6 posts dug 4 ft deep and set in concrete. Then we build the fence on site, so it follows your property line exactly and handles slopes cleanly, without being limited to pre-made panel widths.
We build in pressure-treated wood. It costs less than cedar, takes stain well, and treated posts hold up in the ground.

All-in prices: materials, hardware, 6x6 posts set 4 ft deep in concrete (wood fences), and installation. Wood fences are 6 ft tall. Prices before HST. Old fence removal $5/ft ($200 minimum). Sloped yards are confirmed on site.
Looking after a wood fence
Pressure-treated wood will grey and check (small surface cracks) over time. That's normal and doesn't weaken the fence. To keep it looking its best:
- Let new wood dry out before staining or sealing it.
- Keep soil, mulch and garden beds from piling up against the boards.
- Keep sprinklers from soaking the same boards every day.
- Check gate hinges and latches each spring and tighten as needed.
Frost heave is the most common reason fence posts lean in our area. Posts set 4 ft deep in concrete, below the frost line, are how we prevent it.
Wood fence questions
Do you build cedar fences?
Right now we build in pressure-treated wood only. It lets us keep our posted prices accurate and our quality consistent. If you have your heart set on cedar, ask us and we will tell you honestly what we can do.
When can I stain a new pressure-treated fence?
New pressure-treated wood is still wet from treatment. Let it dry out before staining; the usual test is to sprinkle water on a board. If it soaks in, the wood is ready. If it beads up, wait longer.
How long does a pressure-treated fence last?
It depends heavily on how the posts are set and how the fence is maintained. Posts set deep in concrete, below the frost line, and a fence that is stained and kept clear of soil and plants will last far longer than one that isn’t.
Why 6x6 posts instead of 4x4?
A 6x6 post has more than twice the wood of a 4x4 and resists twisting and leaning much better, especially at gates and corners. We use 6x6 posts on every wood fence at no extra charge.
