Privacy fences come in two packages. We don't sell a cheaper privacy fence, because without the frame and cap it looks unfinished and doesn't last.

Wood shrinks a little as it dries, so small gaps between privacy boards are normal in the first season. If that bothers you, board-on-board is the fix.
In London, the Fence By-law allows residential fences up to 2.13 m (7 ft), measured to the top of the fence or posts, whichever is higher. Our standard privacy fence is 6 ft, and the Premium lattice top brings it to about 7 ft. In St. Thomas and other towns, we confirm the limit for your lot at the site visit.
A standard privacy fence has boards fastened tight side by side on one side of the rails. Wood shrinks as it dries, so small gaps can appear over time. Board-on-board overlaps the boards, so there’s no see-through even after the wood shrinks or when you look at an angle.
With a standard privacy fence, the rails show on one side. Most people keep the finished side facing out, toward the neighbour or street, but it’s your choice. If both sides matter, look at shadowbox or board-on-board.
It’s much easier to build it in from the start, because a lattice top needs longer posts. If you think you might want one, choose Premium or ask us about it at the site visit.
